Alright, so T.V sucks. It's distracting, brain numbing and is more often than not an obnoxious broken fire hydrant spewing bullshit and propaganda into the loungerooms of unsuspecting people zombified by glowing and flickering imagery...

...however, every now and then something worthy does grace the box and even when it doesn't it's always a topic of conversation. So...here is a thread for inane TV banter.

...

First cab off the rank: Has anyone been watching the animated reality T.V show on SBS called Drawn Together? I've caught it the last couple of times and I've got to say I give it two thumbs up out of a possible two thumbs. Last nights episode revolved around a certain princesses' vagina that had been cursed by her evil stepmother transforming it into an eight tenticled, short tempered 'octopussoir'.

good stuff.

Hell yeah that show is fucking piss funny. Last night was only the second episode so get on it people, it has replaced Chappelle's Show on SBS 9:00 Monday nights. It's basically a Big Brother spoof with animated characters such as Captian Hero - A super hero (obviously), Spanky Ham - a rude, crude pig, Ling Ling - a pokemon style monster that goes into battle when his name is said three times, Princess Clara - the mighty Octopussoir, Xandir - computer game adventurer, Toot - overweight jelous 20's sexy symbol, Foxxy Love - Josie and the Cat's style vixen, and Wooldoor - i don't know what the fuck that freak is about. This show is great, they don't care who they offend and they have probably managed to offend everyone in just two episodes.

Re: Box chat

I introduced Drew & Narelle to it last night.

I too give it the thumbs up - a really nice littel parody on so many aspects of tv culture and culture (I guess American culture) in general.

It got weird last night, and I like TV (and film media) to put me out of my comfort zone while making me laugh.

I'm a fan of the Pokemon character dude too...  and actually, the game adventurer:  "I'm on a never ending quest to save my GF"

Nice little piece of amination. Clever.

Oh, and it's made by a guy called Matthew Silverstein.. Does that name sound familiar for a reason?

Wrong. Most of the time.

How's falling down/up the stairs in the mc escher room. and the rip of 24. i found it to be quite confusing and amusing at the same time. omg the octopussoir. this show kinda reminded me of kung pow (if anyone's even seen it)  in the fact that it's hard to find a thread to connect each scene from the next or work out what the plot is. definitely one to fuck with your head if you're too stoned on the couch.

That Escher bit was great. I must say, I was also a fan of the Alien reference.

Re: Box chat

Yeah Kung Pow was funny .. but completely idiotic.  I don't find comedic films of that calibre to be very funy at all!!  I put it in the same boat as "Dude, Where's my car?" as well as "Master of Disguisee".  CRAP!

If you're gonna create a stupidly stupid comdey, at least make it ridiculously stupidly funny .. like "Shaolin Soccer" or "Kung Fu Hustle"

This show sounds good tho' ...
I now eagerly anticipate the next Monday to come along!

(Never thought I'd say that!!)

I looooove Drawn Together. I thought it was brilliant.

Also, has anyone watched the biggest loser?  :-[ If you have an audience, its great as you can all just throw in an hour of fat jokes.

Cruel and unusual? Maybe.

Bad Television? Probably the worst.

Good fun? Most Definitley.

So did anyone watch Spirited Away last night on SBS. I've seen in before but not in a while and I'll be watching it again as soon as I make it to the video store (our reception sucks arse)

Such a delicate and hauntingly beautiful piece of cinema. A prime example of the potential and unique nature of animation.

simply stunning.

Damn, I missed it, didn't even know it was on.

I've seen it before and loved it - who was talking about Howl's Moving Castle, that's meant to be pretty similar.

Re: Box chat

did anyone watch that 20 to 01 show last night? its pretty lame overall but it was counting down best aussie songs, and easybeats came in at number one with "friday on my mind" as they said on the show, it was writtenin like 1966 and it is still so fucking relevant 40 years down the track. you would be hard pressed to find anyone esp on this forum that doesn't relate to that song.

and if you dont i dont wanna hear it. Wink

I'm hooked on 30 Day.

The guy from Supersize Me (Morgan ????) does his own reality show..

Last night's epidsode (Mum binge drinking for 30 days to get thru to her daughter) was lame, but last Morgan and his G/F lived poor for 30 days.
