It's not really AMAZING. It's just global versus local processing: an attentional thing that the brain uses to minimize the number of resources required at one time. We (humans) just scan over things and can easily understand them if they fit into already formed schemas in the memory... unless there's something different or difficult to understand and then more attentional resources are shifted towards that item, as required.
