hmmmmm
last night wednesday....
tv seemed to be either reality shows or crime fixated.
put the two together and id swear the networks are tryin to turn us into reality crims
i might go out and stick some actor from neighbors and scatter the evidence then find a host to get the voters to spend their money catchin me.
cops did the combo first.
i was having this chat with someone a while ago. whenever they make a new cop/emergency service show they bring out a new reality tv show. its like they are competeing for air time
Man, spin that dial to channel 2 and watch a bit of quality T.V. Spicks and specks is on Wednesdays, as is The new Inventors. Both quality shows. There's also The Glass house if you can handle the cheese that comes out of Dave Hughes and Will Anderson. But it's got to be better than the "dunk dunk..." crime shows that clog up almost every nights programming these days.
But if you feel that stabbing a Neighbours actor is the right path here then I'm right behind you. :hb:
Let's see them fit that in there plot lines.
I think spicks and specks is a cracker. I dunno bout the glasshouse though, I've tried a couple of times and I just can't do it.
Is it just me, but I honestly dunno bout Dave Hughes, i just don't think he's that funny. I haven't heard him on brekky radio, but he just doesn't do it for me.
I totally agree with you Pointsta, he's just not funny. Same goes for Will Anderson, he has his moments but without someone to keep some form of direction going with the conversation he just babbles then laughs at himself.
The problem here is that both of these comedians need a straight man.
Where's Dean Martin or Bing Crosby when you really need them.
I can never remember ... is Dave Hughes the one with "The Voice"? The voice that makes me cringe the instant I hear it - Arrgghh I can't stant that fucking Hughsey guy, THAT VOICE!! That lazy way of speaking. I know he can't the voice box he was born with but I wish he had of chosen to become a mime rather than an announcer on National Radio and a "TV Personality".
I know! that whiny, repetitive whine just doesn't muster anything but wincing from me.
They're rerunning safran vs god which is cool though!
actually what am i talking about, john safran has a whinier whine than dave hughes. ah, i like his though.
Thats because John Saffron is intellegent and amusing as opposed to Hughsey. He also plays up his funny voice for effect I think.
Pointi - Tell me, are you the lovely lady that was in my kitchen a few weeks ago viewing an appallingly drunken party?
The problem with Dave Hughes and Will Anderson (and most other male Aussie comedians) is that there whole gimmick is based around:
- How lazy they are
- How much of an idiot they are when they're drunk
- How bad they are in bed and how little they understand about women
Which I guess means they're so succesful cos aussie males are identifying with them and saying "It's funny cos it's true!"
Safran is different cos his bit is "lazy, crap in bed, hopeless with women" but JEWISH! :ang:
Kattuz! Yes! That was I, and that was a funny night!
Fuck you all!!!!! :w:
I love the Glasshouse (but missed it last night) and I love Crime reality TV.
World Wildest Police chases is the fucking best. In fact, the guy who makes all those shows plays a cop in Bad Santa....really!!!
But the best is easily "When animals attack". Only ever saw it once but it was great. More humans should get mauled by animals.....on film.
A close second would have to be "World's most shocking medical videos". Ever seen a guy grow a nose on his forehead to replace the real nose that got ripped off. Me too!!!
Arrgghhh... My house took a battering and so did my head. I hope it was funny in a good way and not in "these people are retarded" sort of a way.
Anyway - Hi there! Nice to put a face to the words... A bit blurry in memory but I'm sure I could remember you (test me on it will you?) :w:
on the topic of cop/crime shows:
Law and Order is actually a good program (even without the cha-ching noise)!!!
..!. <-- virtual bird
I have to agree Scott - I love reality crime TV - anything from Cops to Worlds Wildest Police Chases.
As for plain old vanilla crime drama I can stomach the original Law and Order but that's all (oh - does Medium count? that too.)
That guy who hosts Worlds Wiiildest Po-lice Chayses (you have to read it with an American accent) is hilarious. His staged introductions to each clip are second in awkard cheesiness only to that guy who hosted "THE EXTROADINARY".
I also quite enjoy the way they pad out those shows. They take one 7 second clip and drag it out for 9 minutes with slow-mo replays and interviews. And I love the way they sum it all up at the end of each segment with horrible cliches and metaphors "This con thought that while the cat was away he would play... but he didn't reckon on good old fashioned police-work... and at the end of the day... the Sherrif got his man." cue shot of shirtless guy lying ace down on the ground being handcuffed by the Hick Sherrif.
Ah... so many years lost on the couch safe in the coccoon of familiar US editing techniques...
LOL. Yeah, I love the things they say for each segment. They make the local police force who are probably the result of inbreeding soujnd the most crack crime force ever in existence.
"This guy thought he could outrun the local Utah police force, but what he didn't know is they are trained by Butch McGee, the toughest crimefighter this side of the stateline."
:rof:
Even though it wasn?t totally crime based, I remember a year or so flicking through channel after channel of mindless drivel when I heard an unmistakeable channel 9 voice over pronouncing.
?Up next. One hundred and one things removed from the human body?
Now you just can?t go past a javelin through the face for gripping reality.
Damian I would have to say that was one of the greatest viewing experiences I have ever had with you. Oh to see it again (I love that shit!) I wonder if you could rent it somewhere... My mum would dig it also.

I'm sorry but without the "chunk chunk" it's got nothing.
I love that noise. Someone should sample that and use it in their set.
There is this whole category of film called Mondo - I don't know much about it but apparantly it's just all these really weird bits of footage which sounds like the sort of stuff you guys are talking about.
Apparantly you can rent like Mondo 2005 from the video shop if you're interested Kattuz.
But my film lecturer at uni described it as really weird, (this coming from a guy who has destroyed every photo ever taken of him so that when he dies it will be as if he never existed) - so if he thinks it's weird it's probably pretty twisted.
Hi gorg :w:. Nope funny in a good way, i have seen much more retardness at many a party. I would count myself as quite retarded that night anyway.
I came with drew, curti, ren and mike?
I remember standing in your kitchen for quite some time though, talking about what though I am unsure
I loved the 101st thing removed.
Handshake anyone? :v:
I'm sorry but without the "chunk chunk" it's got nothing.
You're halfway there Anton - it has to be one of Lenny's dry dark comments followed by the chunk-chunk:
"Guess for this electrician it was light's out." Chunk-chunk
"Gee after he accidentally killed his friend during kinky sex he bothered to put a blanket over the body. And who says kids today have no manners." Chunk-chunk
Chunk Chunk.........

"you were right, ?I was too short to reach the break pedal."
:rof:
apparently 50000 calls are made to 911 in queensland evey year, fuckin dumb shit pinapples
50% of people in queensland would have to be backpackers
And the slogan on Queensland number plates is ?the smart state?
:rof:
"This guy thought he could outrun the local Utah police force, but what he didn't know is they are trained by Butch McGee, the toughest crimefighter this side of the stateline."
LMAO :rof:
The population of Queensland is increasing faster than any other state in Australia.
Now why some of that may be southerners heading for warmer weather - that's still a hell of a lot of very stupid people breeding. :o
